The launch was a huge success. As the new main sponsor of Swiss-Ski, Sunrise guaranteed thrills for spectators at the Big Air Festival in Chur. Visitors took a leap into the world of freestyle in the «Cupola» and the Sunrise starzone delivered spectacular views.

The red, brightly lit dome stands out above the crowds. As they approach, curious eyes see a line of people waiting to get inside the «Cupola». Once inside, it’s best to lie down on one of the red benches – it’s the most comfortable way to enjoy the 360-degree movie on the domed ceiling, as it takes the audience on a trip behind the scenes of the Big Air Festival in Chur. Now already in its second year, the event is quite the extravaganza – in more ways than one. On the one hand, it’s the start of the Freestyle Ski World Cup on the big ski ramp. On the other, it has well-known names like Busta Rhymes or Stress performing as part of a hip-hop festival organized by the people behind the Openair Frauenfeld.

The Big Air Festival in Chur also marks the launch of the sporting collaboration between Sunrise and Swiss-Ski. It’s the first time ever that Sunrise has been the main sponsor of Swiss athletes. And the red dome is also celebrating its first appearance. But it won’t be just a one-off. «The Cupola will be front and center again at the Adelboden ski races,» says Daniel Fanger, who is part of the event-sponsoring team at Sunrise.

The launch of the partnership betweenSwiss-Ski and Sunrise was all about thrills, fun and a great atmosphere. But it’s about so much more in the long term. From the grassroots to promoting young talents and all the way to top-level sport, this is for the benefit of the entire Swiss snow sports community. We’re planning a variety of technical innovations, such as digital slope-visualization technology for ski racers.

Be a VIP

Over on the other side of the festival grounds there are two different locations within the Sunrise starzone VIP area. In the warm and cozy lounge, around 60 Sunrise customers are enjoying a complimentary welcome drink with a grandstand view of the concert stage and the impressive ski ramp, which, according to organizers, is 43 meters high and weighs 350 tons. This is where the best freestyle skiers in the world perform their daredevil jumps. Anyone who wants to get even closer to the action can climb up to the covered gallery.
